Therapy for Early Intervention
At The Speech Spot, my approach includes individualized assessment, one-on-one sessions, targeted practice, progress monitoring, and active involvement of parents/caregivers.
I create a positive and supportive environment, focusing on not only correcting speech errors but also enhancing overall communication abilities.
Speech Delay
Speech delay is when a child is not reaching the expected speech and language milestones for their age. They may have trouble pronouncing words or using age-appropriate vocabulary and sentence structures.

Example
A child might say "wabbit" instead of "rabbit" or "I pwayed with my teds" instead of "I played with my toys."
Stuttering
Stuttering is characterized by disruptions in the normal flow of speech, which can include repetitions of sounds, syllables, words, or prolongations of sounds.

Example
A child might say, "I-I-I want a-a-a-a cookie, please." During this sentence, you can hear repetitions of sounds ('I-I-I') and syllables ('a-a-a-a'), as well as hesitations ('want') as they struggle with the flow of their speech.
Therapy at The Speech Spot
In an Early Intervention session for a child aged 0-3 years, my focus is on creating a nurturing and stimulating environment to support foundational development. The session begins with a warm and gentle introduction, prioritizing the child's comfort. Through age-appropriate activities, I target developmentally appropriate communication skills, while incorporating fine and gross motor skills.

Utilizing sensory-rich materials and interactive play, I engage the child in activities that promote exploration and stimulate sensory experiences. For communication development, I introduce simple gestures, encourage vocalizations, and facilitate early interactions. Motor skill activities focus on promoting mobility.

As the session unfolds, I closely observe the child's responses and adjust activities accordingly, ensuring a tailored and responsive approach. Positive reinforcement and encouragement are woven into every interaction, fostering a secure and enjoyable environment for both the child and their caregivers. Our Early Intervention sessions aim to lay a strong foundation for future development, promoting a positive and collaborative journey in these crucial early years.
